what is the difference between up and down spiral?
Up spirals pull wood chips out of the wood from the top as they cut, down spirals push chips down into the slot as they cut. Down spirals make a cleaner cut at the surface of the material being cut. Down spirals make a cleaner cut at the bottom of the material being cut if they are used to cut all the through.
