Heated Computer Keyboard

Are your hands cold when you work on your computer? A heated computer keyboard might do wonders to keep you comfortable while you work. This patented warming computer keyboard is a new item that is perfect for people who have arthritis or must work in a cold environment.

Safe and economical, this product uses a safe low voltage heating system to warm the keys. A special 20V, 1.8 amp transformer coupled with an electronic control, heat the keys to about 100 degrees F. You may also switch to a lower temperature of about 85 degrees, if you prefer. When the room becomes hot, you can switch off the heat completely. The system has been tested and approved for safety by the Underwriter's Laboratory in the United States and Canada.

The heating system has no moving parts. It is extremely durable and operates in complete silence.

The energy consumption, when switched to high heating, is less than that of a 20 W light bulb in a room of 60 degrees F. A winter saving tip: Lower the thermostat in your office and use warmed keyboards.

This keyboard works with all computers running Microsoft operating systems. Just plug into any USB port. Older computers with windows 98 and earlier do not have drivers for the new multimedia keys, however, you can download the drivers for free from microsoft.

Why Warm Keyboards?

The short answer:

  • It will make your hands warm and comfortable. It may also reduce the risk of hand injury.

The long answer:

  1. Cold hands hurt: Cold hands mean the blood circulation is restricted. Your blood may not deliver sufficent oxygen and vital nutrients to the smallest blood arteries surrounding the median nerve. Repeatedly using your cold hands over a long period of time may not be healthy.

There is no serious research on the effects of the use of the WarmKeyBoard (There has been no warm keyboard until now.) We have known for a long time that workers in cold environments are more likely to sustain hand injury. There is no doubt that warmth is good for arthritis and carpal tunnel suffers. Cold triggers the painful Raynaud's Syndrome, spasms of the blood vessels in the hand, sharp contracting of the arterioles and restricting blood flow to extremities. My personal experimentation with heated keyboards over the last ten years certainly has convinced me that they are beneficial to my hands.

  2. Keyboards tend to make your hands cold:
Regular keyboards stay at room temperature, usually 10 to 20 degrees F colder than normal hand temperatures. The difference is even greater in some really cold offices. The keyboard will drain the heat from the finger tips continuously. Prolonged use will lead to cold hands. A warm keyboard will transmit heat to your finger tips and keep your hands warm and comfortable.
